Technology & Online Access Requirements

Students participating in any online, hybrid, portal-based, or digital learning activity should be prepared to access email, program communications, forms, and digital learning resources. For any online or distance-learning component, Ventura Training Institute recommends the following minimum technology readiness.

Computer or Device

Desktop or laptop preferred. Tablet access may be used for basic viewing, but a computer is strongly recommended for forms, uploads, testing, and online coursework.

Internet Access

Stable high-speed internet capable of supporting video meetings, digital learning platforms, email, uploads, and document downloads.

Camera, Audio & Email

Working webcam, microphone, speakers or headset, and an active email account checked regularly for school communications.

Software Readiness

Current web browser, PDF reader, ability to open school forms, and ability to scan or upload documents from a phone or computer.

Online participation: Students should be prepared to join live or recorded instruction, complete digital assignments, review announcements, and submit required documents electronically when requested.
Digital professionalism: Students are expected to follow all school, privacy, and professionalism rules when using technology, email, online learning tools, or any digital patient-related environment.

The Nurse Assistant program prepares students for entry-level nurse assistant training with a focus on patient care, safety, communication, infection control, basic nursing skills, and required practice experiences.

The Vocational Nurse program is a 12-month program designed to prepare students for safe, competent, entry-level vocational nursing practice and eligibility to pursue the NCLEX-PN pathway after completion.

Admissions requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have a valid government-issued ID.
  • Have a valid SSN or ITIN.
  • Have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent and submit it with application.
  • Complete an enrollment form and interview with a Ventura Training Institute representative.
  • Complete a CNA program and hold a current CNA state certification.
  • Complete Anatomy and Physiology prerequisites with minimum required grades.
  • Take the ATI TEAS exam and meet required benchmarks.
  • Take and pass the Basic Math for Nursing test at 100%.
  • Submit health exam and screening requirements and current BLS for Healthcare Providers.

Additional pre-start requirements after acceptance

  • Complete required physical examination and immunization / screening documentation.
  • Complete ATI’s self-paced LAUNCH: Nursing Academic Readiness program before start.
  • Purchase required malpractice insurance from the designated carrier.
  • Complete required Live Scan background check and drug screening for clinical placements.
  • Maintain health insurance for the duration of the program.

Brief coursework summary

The VN program includes Clinical Practicum I–IV, Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology for Nurses, Medical-Surgical Nursing 1–3, Holistic Care of the Older Adult, Introduction to Mental Health Nursing, Nursing Care of Children, Maternal-Newborn Nursing Care, Leadership/Management/Transition to Practice, and Review of Key Concepts for Safe Vocational Nursing Practice.

Passing / completion expectations

Students must complete all required courses with a minimum of 75%, meet clinical objectives, complete all required hours, satisfy final payments, and submit licensure-related application requirements including fingerprinting.

Health clearance highlights

Prior to starting the program, students must complete health clearance documentation that includes physical exam, TB screening, and required immunization records, including influenza, COVID-19, MMR, varicella, Tdap, and hepatitis B.

VN applicants should begin transcript, TEAS, health clearance, and background-screening preparation early. Nursing paperwork likes deadlines, and deadlines do not negotiate.
