The Home Health Aide (HHA) Bridge is a 40-hour program (20 theory, 20 clinical) that enables Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) to expand their scope of practice into home-based patient care. Graduates are eligible for California HHA certification.
- Length: two and a half weekends (5 days)
- Total Hours: 40 (20 theory, 20 clinical)
- Prerequisite: active California CNA license
- Outcome: eligibility for California HHA certificate

Admissions
Admission Requirements
- Active California CNA certification in good standing
- Valid government-issued ID and SSN / ITIN
- Current CPR/BLS card (AHA) — may be added on-site
- Physical exam, immunizations & TB clearance valid through course dates
- Clear Live Scan background check for home-health agency clearance
Admission Procedure
- 1Complete the online HHA Bridge application and upload your CNA license.
- 2Pay the registration fee or submit an employer sponsorship letter.
- 3Provide updated physical, immunization records, and TB result.

- Nutrition, meal prep & feeding assistance
- Safe transfers & ambulation in limited-space environments

- Client rights, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity
Grading & Completion
Pass/Fail evaluation; minimum 75% on written exam and skills check-off. 100% attendance is required. Upon successful completion, VTI submits certification paperwork to CDPH on your behalf.
