HOME HEALTH AIDE (HHA)

The Home Health Aide course, approved by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), is a five (5) day program that is designed for students who want to provide care in the home care setting. Graduates of the program will be issued a Certified Home Health Aide certification (CHHA) and 26 CEUs for their CNA license by the state of California.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 16 years of age or older
    - If student is a minor, a parent or guardian must also attend the enrollment process and register student.
  • A valid social security number (SSN) or individual tax identification number (ITIN) AND current government issued ID
  • Submit a current health and physical form, immunization records and current TB test complete by a Physician (MD) or Nurse practitioner (NP)
    - For a physical form to be considered current, it must be completed within the last year and not expire during program.
  • Must have a valid CA CNA license
  • Must have a valid CPR or BLS license from American Heart Association or American Red Cross

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Applicants must complete and submit an enrollment agreement to VTI for consideration.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

PLEASE NOTE: There is no state licensing exam for the CA Home Health Aide program. Successful completion of all requirements of the course will qualify the individual for licensing.

Students accepted into the Home Health Aide training program will be notified in person or via phone.  Applicants accepted into the HHA program must submit the following: health and physical form, immunizations record and TB test.  The applicant must not have any communicable diseases, infections, psychological disorders and other conditions that would prevent the successful performance of the responsibilities and tasks required in the education and training.
